Practitioner first.
The work starts with how procurement actually operates. Not with how a category wants to position itself.
About wop.
World of Procurement is an independent editorial platform for people working across procurement, contracts, supplier management, technology, and AI. Practitioner-led, curious about what is changing, and sceptical of the version being marketed.
Why wop. exists
Procurement has never lacked information. It has lacked useful interpretation. Most of what reaches practitioners is written to sell a platform, promote a category, or turn a complicated shift into a neat headline.
wop. exists to do something different. Find the signal, add the context, and explain what it means for the people doing the work.
That means reporting from the practitioner side of the table. Honest about what works. Honest about what breaks. And clear about the line between genuine progress and a convincing demo.
01
The work starts with how procurement actually operates. Not with how a category wants to position itself.
02
World of Procurement is its own editorial brand. The analysis is not written to sell a particular platform, service, or employer.
03
Every article, video, framework, and Wire should leave you with something you can take back into the work.
About Daniel
Daniel Barnes has spent more than a decade working across procurement, commercial operations, contracts, supplier management, and technology.
His career began in defence, working across complex direct procurement programmes, emerging technologies, and major commercial frameworks. He later moved through public and private-sector consulting, helping organisations rebuild underperforming purchasing functions and deliver difficult contracts.
That was followed by high-growth FinTech, where he built contracting, supplier-compliance, and onboarding capabilities. More recently, his work has focused on procurement technology, content, positioning, and the practical deployment of AI agents.
World of Procurement brings those experiences together. Operator, builder, writer, and a persistent student of how the profession is changing.
