The Wire is wop.'s short-take format. One story, the wop. read on what it means, and one signal to watch. The original announcement is linked below.

What happened. Elioplus announced Prometheon on 15 October, a procurement network that matches RFQs with local suppliers using criteria including location, certifications and capacity.

What it actually means. Finding a supplier name is easy compared with finding someone who can actually deliver the requirement. Putting discovery, invitations and bid comparison in one place could take some of the chasing out of local sourcing, but a directory listing is not proof of current capability. The commercial value sits in the shortlist that comes back, including suppliers procurement would otherwise miss, rather than the number of profiles the platform can display.

What to watch. Whether buyer examples over the next six months show stronger qualified response rates and completed awards, with a clear explanation of how supplier information is kept current.
