What happened. Coupa added Fundbox invoice financing to its Supplier Portal, allowing eligible US suppliers to seek advances against approved buyer invoices without involving the buyer.
What it actually means. The supplier portal is becoming a financial marketplace, not just transaction plumbing. Easier access to cash may help suppliers without adding work for accounts payable. It also moves more of the supplier's working-capital activity into the network layer, outside the buyer's normal early-payment process.
What to watch. Whether buyers gain useful signals about supplier financing demand, or whether the approved invoice becomes the last point at which they can see emerging cash pressure.
