What happened. Icertis published a survey of 500 US procurement leaders on 5 October in which one-third estimated annual losses above $1 million from unrealised supplier contract terms.

What it actually means. Those are respondents’ estimates in vendor-sponsored research, not audited losses. The useful question is what happens to a rebate, discount or service commitment after signature. Give it an owner, a calculation, a source of operating evidence and a review date, then distinguish expected value from value actually received.

What to watch. Whether procurement reports benefits through delivery and reconciliation. Contract handover should make the obligation executable before the team moves to the next negotiation.

Put this to work.
