I feel like every day is a blur in this new age of AI. New Models. New tools. New Capabilities.

It’s incredible.

Procurement AI has entered its product-launch era. Almost every platform now needs a credible answer for how intelligence, agents and automation fit into the product.

Across the market, vendors are adding AI layers to contract, supplier, risk and sourcing workflows. The useful distinction is not which launch uses the strongest language, but which product can show a defined job, reliable evidence, appropriate controls and a maintainable operating model.

CFOs are navigating a perfect storm: unseen risks and hidden operational blind spots are silently siphoning millions from corporate bottom lines. Yet, this critical vulnerability often remains invisible amidst the increasing demands placed upon them. Data from Gartner reveals over 70% of CFOs are now juggling responsibilities extending far beyond traditional finance roles.

The market is moving quickly, but launch language is not evidence. Buyers should look for production examples, measured outcomes, clear human escalation and an update policy for the underlying models and workflows.

I’m fortunate to have worked on agentic procurement products and to have evaluated procurement platforms as a practitioner. Seeing both sides has made me more optimistic about the technology—and more demanding about the evidence behind each claim.

I’ll be sharing some more about this over the coming weeks and months, mainly so I can show you an agentic solution in action to start bringing to life what I’ve been talking about for the last 12-18 months.
