Hey {{first_name|there}},

When someone asks for better spend visibility, I think it’s worth asking what they want to do once they’ve got it.

You might need to understand why the same supplier appears under six different names, work out which teams are buying outside an agreement, or check whether a price increase is reasonable. Each of those needs different information, and seeing the spend is only part of the job.

Say your team spends £2m a year in a category. That tells you the size of it, but it doesn’t tell you whether the price is fair, whether people still need what they’re buying, or whether changing suppliers would be worth the disruption.

Before asking for another report, try finishing this sentence: “We need this information so we can decide…”

If you can finish it, you’ve got a clearer brief for whoever is pulling the data together. If you can’t, you might end up with a lovely dashboard and another meeting to work out what it means.

Got questions about hiring globally?

The best person for your next role might not live near your office — or even in the same country.

And more companies are realizing they don't need to open entities everywhere just to hire great talent globally.

Instead, teams are using an employer of record (EOR) to hire internationally faster, stay compliant, and avoid the operational headache of setting up local infrastructure before they're ready.

That shift is changing how companies think about growth, hiring, and expansion altogether.

Oyster's EOR helps companies hire, pay, and support employees in 180+ countries while Oyster handles payroll, compliance, taxes, and local employment requirements.

Finding the right procurement tools.

If you’re looking for procurement tech, you probably don’t need another list of companies to research - you need help working out which ones are relevant to the problem you’re trying to solve.

That’s what the wop. procurement intelligence guide is for.

If you need to understand what you’re spending and with whom, start with spend analytics. If you need supplier, pricing, and market information, look at market intelligence. If you need help developing and maintaining category plans, look at category management tools.

There’s overlap, which can make the search confusing, but the guide explains those differences and gives you questions to ask before booking demos.

Go deeper with wop. membership.

If you’re comparing spend and category tools, give each provider the same job to demonstrate. The member demo-evaluation guide includes a scenario brief, a comparison record, implementation questions, and six prompts to help you test what the software can actually do.

Something to watch.

Choosing the right tool is part of it, knowing how to use the information matters too. In this video, I cover the procurement skills worth developing as AI becomes part of the job - including data analytics, AI literacy, and using digital tools to support your decisions.
