The renewal calendar.
What happened. Pactum introduced Material Intelligence, an AI agent that continuously maps material cost drivers against market indices, supplier pricing and commercial data to identify where contracted prices have moved away from market reality.
What it actually means. Procurement has traditionally organised negotiations around contract dates. A renewal approaches, somebody gathers the evidence and the supplier conversation begins. Continuous market monitoring changes the trigger. The negotiation can begin when the commercial evidence changes, not six months later when somebody notices the contract is due.
That moves procurement from calendar-led negotiation to opportunity-led negotiation.
What to watch. Whether category teams begin running dynamic negotiation queues based on market movements rather than annual sourcing calendars.
